Double Canadian or U.S. citizenship through paternity?
The details: – I have 25 years and was born in British Columbia Canada. – My father was born in Cleveland, Ohio and left the United States at the age of 25 or 26. – My mother is a Canadian citizen born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. While taking a trial run across the border, the agent informed me that the border is I can automatically entitled to U.S. citizenship like my father lived in the United States beyond the age of 19 years. Is it so? It has unfortunately not been able to give me good information, but I tried to be as most useful. I would get dual American / Canadian citizenship, but I'm not sure how I go about this given the above facts. Does anyone knows what in his place and do I need to get my dual citizenship? The resident agent has said that if the above facts are, I would not even have to pass an exam citizenship, which is supposed to only be granted automatically.
Yes, says you are entitled to U.S. citizenship, but not automatic ….. it's a bit of paperwork to do. Conuslar need a record of birth abroad. Http: / / www.amcits.com / birth_abroad.asp On this site you will need to Click on the link to the identification of adults. (It would have been much easier than 18 years). Go through the link and see what you need in the way of documentation. Your father must demonstrate 5 years of residence in the U.S. (Maybe he went to college there??? Or a former employer that controls it) and citizenship USA. Vas nearest U.S. consulate with his father to give you documents. Good luck! You can send me an email if you need lonyad@yahoo.com. I do this for my son.
