dna test clinic
DNA testing? Or medical testing?

I recently found out that my father is not my biological father, that my parents used a sperm donor to get pregnant. It was back in 1983 when they were inseminated, and I was wondering if I can’t get any information from the clinic, is there a medical test that I can have that will let me know some of my paternal families medical history?
My brother (who is also the product of a sperm donor) recently was diagnosed with a very rare condition and I want to find out what I could have.
So my question is: What is the test called?
I would like to know so I can start my research. Thanks!
All the clinic told my parents that the donors were screened medically. But things skip generations and we think that’s what happened with my brother. But they didn’t give my parents any medical history. They just told them they were healthy males, 20 – 30 years old.

The only thing I can really think of is getting a DNA test done through 23andMe.

https://www.23andme.com/

Its a website that tests your dna and tells you a bunch of background info on you including where your ancestors came from, etc. It tests for genetic markers of like 200 different diseases.

The thing is, this is actually made so that you can find everything out about your DNA, but it is extremely useful for people like yourself, who want to find out about what types of diseases they are likely to get in the future. Besides the ones they are already testing for, they add new diseases daily, and with each add, they update your info for the genetic marker.

Its pretty expensive at $399, but I think it is beyond worth it. I’ve been reading up on it alot lately, and I always thought it would be extremely useful to people who are adopted or were concieved using donor sperm.

Good Luck!!
